Years to LookBack

It's been 5 years since I've started blogging and the journey has been quite amazing. This isn't a 'blogging-has-taught-me-so-much'moment, although it did! But, I just wanted to look back at all the fabulous pictures and tried to recall the fun I had during the photoshoot. So in this post I'll be sharing the amazing moments and what I love about that outfit :)

Sit back and relax!

The first time I wore a lipstick. Gosh! I was so nervous as I know nothing about makeup, the right shade or even to wear one but, I did it anyway. It's about feeling good right? So I felt.

I did the basic white and black look here and completed it with two different accessories- a hat and a floral headband.

This was a very sunny day and I sort of regretted wearing those pants (not mine!) so I said to myself, 'Hey! Why not try something new' and so I tied my favorite scarf and voila!

You'd see this sling bag in so many posts. This is undoubtedly one of my favorite bags. It is stylish, light and so useful to carry on a day-out, date or a party.

I asked my friend who is a photographer, to click some nice pictures for my shopping haul. We went out to Carter road, Bandra and had a blast while shooting it; never-mind the sun!

My favorite thing about this outfit was the blue canvas shoes. They are my brother's but I gave a twist to it by going lace-less ;)

Goa is so much fun with friends! We danced to Lean On, partied under the stars, sun-bathed at Candolim beach and kept ourselves hydrated with watermelon & kiwi juices!

I finally found a reason to wear crop tops and my leather shorts (in India). I had worked so hard to prepare a toned body for Goa and the results were truly fruitful.

This outfit is again from Goa Diaries. The sun was upon us but hey, it's always great for photoshoots!

I hadn't wore this magnificent dress for like-ever. With my body in shape and at the right place, I took out my floral headband and let my hair down. It felt so airy and light in this piece of maxi-dress.

My last academic farewell was so emotional and fun-filled. Click on the picture above to read more :)

I'd have to say, I had not gained as much as eye-balls 'in college' as I did that day when I wore this nude-colored elegant piece of jumpsuit. My first, yes!

At last, the bidding goodbye to Mumbai pose. This picture was taken at Worli Sea Face. I loved everything about that day, the weather, fresh air and my natural waves.

I have to admit, I have so many blues but this kind of blue sets my mood high: such a paradox! This romper glides over my skin so well and the lacework is just so splendid.

I love to organize my photo albums with nice and customized designs. Look how I created my own lookbook for Social Print Studio's custom photo books.

Waiting for your views.

Hello Beautiful people

I hope everyone is having a wonderful May :) Despite the terrible heat, I've started to love the city more. When your work-joining doesn't have a date and you have no plans except learn french, play guitar, blog, read, eat, sleep, watch tv and roam around; you learn the importance of work!

It's been less than a month since my ideal state and I've started to miss it. I'm one of those people who do not take the above mentioned things; including work, for granted. You know what they say, you got to find time for the things you love. So, even if I work from home until my official joining, I'll find time for you guys. :)

P.S. If you want to collaborate for posts, fun quizzes and knowledge exchange then don't hesitate to shoot a mail at: fictitious.fashion@gmail.com

Talking about this outfit post- It was my brother's birthday on 2nd May and he turned the sweetest sixteen he could ever be. Dressed in this precious tangerine, I love his sense of style now!

I wore one of my favorite crop top blouses and annoyingly the only color I have been wearing for the past many weeks. I paired it with the basic black jeggings and my darling leather bag that I purchased while in Goa! Enjoy the pictures.

Hey lovelies

How are my sunshines doing? I hope to find you smiling and happy. Today I bring to you something very special.

Choosing an online fashion hub to get unique and latest outfits can be cumbersome; especially when there are thousands of websites to choose from. We bloggers have certain responsibility to be fair and true to our readers that's why I choose where to shop from, very wisely. I have many clothes but the heart desires for more ;). Sometimes I'm also confused as to whether I'm not repeating any style or color. Therefore, one must remember the following points while shopping online.

* Compare prices. When a website gives something for as low as $1, it is wise to check out the quality and reviews. I found them very positive on OzSpecials so I highly recommend it.

* Discounts: What's the point of shopping online if you don't get discounts. You can get upto 50% off on websites and more than that simply means clearance of stock!

* Designs & style: The best thing about shopping online is having variety in front of your eyes at the comfort of your home. Such websites live to revamp their collection.

* Shipping: Certain websites disguise shipping (priority shipping in smaller fonts) and check the box marked to it prior to placing the order. Check till what amount you'd be given free shipping and talk to customer care incase of any doubts.

Here are some of my favorite designs from a lovely website that is very fitting.

Net and Black, Amen!

Denim shirts go with so many things. Must own one!

I am in love with stripes this summer. How about you?

Off-shoulder dresses and blouses has been a rage this month.

I have a dire need to have this. Which one do you like it?

Which one is your favorite from the website? Let me know in the comments below.

May Favorites

Hello lads

I love summers. The sun, the flowers, birds chirping. Well, it doesn't happen on earth as you know. It's scorching, sweaty sun; flowers with hornets and bees; pigeons leaving white somethings on your balcony. Life goes on ;) I hate winters that's why I love summers, that's the real reason.

Now that you know the secret, let's take a look at my May favorites.

This one's from Banggood. As a fashion blogger you get to know different websites and in the end, their collections look the same. But here's one which had something different. Sure, one out of 6 pieces might be the same but the 5 which are not, are really exceptional. Let's check out my favorites.

Click images to visit the website.

1. Off-shoulder top

Comes in orange too!

So I've been obsessing with off-shoulder solid blouses. They give this summery feel and just right for this season. Pair it with buttoned-up denims/shorts or straight-cut maxi skirt. Pair with a fringe bag and a cute pair of sandals.

2. Abstract print dress
It has myriad of colors, light base, good material and can literally be paired with tons of accessories. Personally, I'd pair this baby up with nude pumps and the bottom bag.

3. Candy shoulder bag
Gosh I know it's a little out there but isn't it just chic? I love the texture, the size and specially the color. Monochrome outfits or color blocking (still there) is my thing.

4. Multi-colored pumps

You must have guessed by now, either it's white or shades of coral/red. I especially love this pair because of two things- burgundy and buckle. I usually don't wear heels until absolutely necessary, but if I do wear, I like such which take care that my clumsy body doesn't trip over. I'd pair it with ankle length pants and probably some burgundy love going on the top front.

So? Do you like my favorites? I'm very peculiar about what I like and these I really really liked
Pick yours.

Hi Folks

H&M finally opened nearby and I went on a shopping spree. Some of my purchases are below while rest, you'll see soon :')

If I had to rank the following brands based on quality, style and price tag then here's my preference.

The following is in comparison with each other only.

Quality

Zara > Promod > H&M > Mango

Style

Zara > Mango > H&M > Promod

Price tag (value for money)

Zara > Promod > Mango >= H&M

Zara is a clear winner. I liked H&M USA's quality but when it opened here, it was a big let down; especially in Men's section. The quality was poor, style was decent and price was competitive. Nevertheless, I chose the best :)

Hello Readers

How's the weather like where you are? Here it's really hot; hot flashes hot! A while ago it rained in Delhi and it was quite pleasant, but then the effect lasted for less than 48hours and it was back to normal (=hot). So in moments like these, we stay indoors, drink lots of water and surf the net.

So this website talks a lot about how good they are with wedding & all the accessories to cover you up on your special day. So I decided to check them for myself. The moment you see their homepage, you know they are right! Beautiful designer wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses and even cocktail gowns are my favorites.

The thing about wedding is, they are more special for the girl than the guy. You got to back me up here. It's more her day than his, her needs than his, her dress, her veil, her something blue, her bouquet and the song. So everything right from her dress to shoes got to be perfect.

I especially like their convertible dresses. I'm always inspired by creativity and innovation.

You just need one thing to change your life forever and these dresses surely would. All eyes on you, the perfect white, the tulle, the lace and silk against your skin will make up for whatever that did or didn't happen that day.

Now you must be thinking, this would cost a fortune but you couldn't be more wrong. The above pieces start at a price of as low as $110. It's all about quality and I'm sure you'd doubt theirs. You can see a video of each dress and every dress is made to order so there is no hidden costs.

We all know that in blogging world, CocoMelody is known for beautiful wedding dresses and they always stand true to their name. So check out their website for free shipping and other details.

I'm on a wedding writing spree.

Hi Folks

I hope you guys are having great June days. My June is all packed with traveling and explore galore. Here I'm planning where to go next and my friends are all getting married (Facebook is one gossip queen). So it makes me think of the time brides-to-be find difficulty in gathering inspirational outfit ideas.

I stumbled upon Modabridal which, obviously, sells wedding dresses, party outfits, bridal accessories and so many silver things. I was delighted to see the following things presented in the most aesthetic manner as possible:

  • Each dress having the title 'tailor made' that makes it sound more personalized
  • Under each item, there was a visual list of pantone like colors that Modabridal uses for everyone's reference
  • Having Plus size chart made their market broader.
  • Most dresses come in the following colors- White, ivory, pink, silver and champagne

Isn't that a treat for many of you? Let me know how else would you have paired this dress :)

Hi all

Girls and heels go a long way in the 16th century when the first ever instance of high heels was seen between the marriage of Catherine de' Medici with the Duke of Orleans. They are a very sexy as well as risky business. Latter because there are many medical problems and risk of twisting that comes with it. But who cares?

Image from Google
If Victoria can do it (with harper in her hand) then so can we (without harper in our hand)

The reason why I'm (not) overlooking the risk is because an year ago I slipped from stairs and almost got a hairline fracture (thrice) so I'm pretty cautious while walking; even without heels! So when I found these comfortable pair of leopard print heels on Banggood, that called for an opportunity to say "This is for office".

And let me tell you that I wasn't kidding about the comfort part. This was the first time in an year when I wore the pair and it just felt magnificent.

Hello people

When I had just begun blogging, I was awestruck by girls wearing maxi dresses and skirts. I wish I had a height or an art to wear heels to my advantage. Barring both, I chose this skirt and many other 'Would it look good on me?'(s) and felt better about myself.

It made me realize that you can carry off anything if you have a smile that comes from your heart and confidence that makes you stand straight. It's okay to fumble and it's absolutely fine to doubt but if it's staying on your mind for a longer time then better to buy/do it rather than sulk all night long.

I bought this top before going to Goa, you might have seen this with my favorite leather shorts, HERE. It is so versatile that I love flaunting my achieved body which is still work-in-progress.

Still, life is too short to wait, isn't it? ;)

When You are Happy

and you know it, ... ;)

Hello there

I'm filled with positivity today so it occurred to me that it's been almost a month since I've blogged. Back in the days I used to write inspirational posts as well and it really made me content to know that my post can make at least one person happy. So today I'd like to make you feel good about your life.

These are the things that can instantly give you a jolt of happiness

1) Sleep- Believe it or not, but a good 7-8 hours of sleep has the same impact as waking up at your own leisure on weekends. Just check your speed of activities and you'll know. Guess why they say 'Sleep tight' at night? ;)

2) Compliment- A simple compliment, out of the blue and that too from unexpected company, can really brighten up your day. Just imagine, you wear your new blouse and nobody notices any change vs a person complimenting the glow the color brings to your face; the moment you enter your workplace. Smile follows...

3) Love- I'm not talking about gooey-romantic love but the one where you can close your eyes and feel secure and complete. You think logically and still the equation of hearts seems sound-minded to you. The long standing beam of smile turns into a permanent one.

4) Expected News- You've been waiting for something to happen for so long and it finally does! What a feeling, isn't it? More than the end-result, it's the long-wait that seems to be more fruit-bearing.

5) Order- When your life is in order, it makes you happy. Your health seems fine, work place is fun (normal, eh?), family is smiling when you return, you have friends to keep you company and you never realize that being happy is monotonous too.

I hope you paused and thought about a few relatable things, if not: hope you enjoyed the pictures. :)

My Birthday is next week. So excited :D

Until next time

The Style Community

Hi All

I'm starting a new series of posts called- #TheStyleCommunity. People who have been long associated with the blog, know how much I encourage everyone to imbibe their unique style. I had even planned a few contests for the same; back in 2011.

Today, I'm bringing #TheStyleCommunity to you. It's a community of dynamic fashionable websites that choose a different path in every season and have USPs in the kind of fashion they bring to the table. Instead of simply reviewing a website (because I've been asked to do so!), I will put them in the said list and give them community points on the basis of the following:

  • Uniqueness in clothing line- Very unique- Unique- Average- Can do better (5 , 4, 3, 2, 1)
  • Ease of purchase (UI)- User Friendly or needs brainiacs to explore! (5, 0)
  • Customer Care- This ones simple! (5, 0)
  • Price point- Pricey to extremely affordable (1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Here is the first website to go to my community :)

This is a kind of website which gives you chills. The first page had me mentally taking note of my favorite dresses. The Maxi dresses in particular, fancied my eyes. It was a pleasant mix of evening gowns to serene outdoor dresses: the word 'çasual' would have been a slap on their face for they are really doing a good job as far as the look & feel is concerned.

The website gives you the opportunity to fix a range you want the item under. Apart form this, there are 3 sections for 'New Ins', 'Sale' and 'Designer' collection.

There are websites which, because they belong to different ethnicity, cannot converse in the universal language and that makes a problem in communication. But, I believe there should be no hindrance when talking to a customer. StyleWe has a good customer support team which gives prompt and crisp replies.

The kind of quality & designs they have to offer, makes the price point a little higher than the competition. This makes them an investment rather than splurge place.
  • Uniqueness in clothing line- Unique (4)
  • Ease of purchase (UI)- User Friendly (5)
  • Customer Care- Great (5)
  • Price point- Pricey* (1)
#TheStyleCommunity points= 15/20
They have discounts for first time Ios customers.

    My Homecoming

    Hi all :)

Schools are the most exciting years of ones' life. I remember mine: I was ever so happy to return to school and had at least one makeover to flaunt. It could be a new haircut, fitted uniforms, some accessory or even a nail paint. I had the liberty to experience two kinds of school atmospheres- Catholic and Co-ed. Both were fun in their own ways and I couldn't be more glad to leave the former and come the latter at the right age.

We used to have small parties near canteen and the first week saw murmurs of where the unofficial should be held at. Deciding the venue was only the beginning of the 2-week long ride. Studies were minimal and party related talks were the only thing one could talk about.

So while reminiscing about my school days last week, my homecoming search led me to Dresstells.com. They have a beautiful collection of  wedding, prom and homecoming dresses that would actually make you miss school very much. I secretly wish ordering one for myself; even if I don't have any party to attend to :P Just wear these beautiful dresses at home and chill all day. (Inspiration: FRIENDS)

    Now let's talk about #TheStyleCommunity

    • Uniqueness in clothing line- Unique (3)

    Hi all

I know there's lack of innovation in my titles but I was so excited to just publish the post and hear your thoughts on my birthday dress. First time, wore such an elegant and simple dress (and first red) that just rested so perfectly on my body.

It was my Birthday on the 13th (no it wasn't a Friday!). After 2 years I could celebrate the day with my family. It was such a perfect day: Lunch with friends and dinner with family, followed by two separate cakes for the occasion.

Until 2014, my birthday sponsor (not literally) was Promod for, if I couldn't find a dress elsewhere, Promod was where I headed too. But for the past two years, Forever New has been my knight & shinning armor. My mom helped me pick this one and I couldn't love it more.

    Five Years of Love

    Hello Fictitious Fashion readers

    Love you all!

My Blog completed 5 years recently (Sep 7) and I couldn't be more proud of it. Can't believe it's been good these many years. So on this occasion I'd like to write 5 things I love about blogging. I know many bloggers can relate to this one :)

    Let's begin!

    1) It listens to me: Whenever I have had a bad day, I know I can come here, post something or look at other blogs and it cheers me right up. If I'm finding it hard to find a solution to my problem then I'm sure some blog definitely might have written a post about it. Most importantly; it always gives me a blank space to share anything I want :)

    2) It inspires me: This one is not that hard and yet all the more a reason to be in the blog-sphere. During the initial few months, I'm sure many of us would have been stuck, numerous times in our thoughts. What to write next? This is to blogging world as What to wear? is to a girl's morning madness. Those with a style/fashion blog, where they showcase their style, are mostly sorted but the second question still haunts them. Those who have a fashion & lifestyle blog (like mine), have such difficulty in finding new material to wear & write, both. But I know that the moment I look at my old posts, or someone else's new posts, I'd know what to do next.

    3) It has made me confident: I used to stick to one type of style or imbibe one when I was ready according to my comfort. Now, although I still rely on comfort more than anything; I have become more experimental in nature. I try bold prints & colors, am not afraid to style different styles together and can very well understand how to carry one piece according to my body type. Even though ones inherent style remains the same, but I've been more open to different things now.

    4) Connections: We all must agree that another thing blogging gives us are, connections or friends. I had made one very good friend, Sam from Frills and Thrills. Lost contact with her or she has changed email id but she is one of the best person out here. People who know her, know how kind, sweet, good with her words and a true fashionista she is. Like her, I made many great connections from around the world which truly gave me an enriching experience.

    5) Happiness: Everyone told me, if you love blogging so much, why don't you make a living out of it. While it makes sense for many bloggers but I wanted to keep somethings (Guitar & writing) which I could do after a tough day at work. It acts as my escape route and gives me immense satisfaction.

    Thanks for being there :)

    Take care

    Hi Folks

There comes a time in every blogger's life when they want to experiment all the way. For me, these baggy pants are 'it'. I had a hard time pairing these since I don't have those perfect abs else crop tops would have been the obvious choice. Still I tried my best and came up with this outfit. Even if you have fuller bottom or waist, wear what makes you happy. It's my goal to achieve a toned body and that's my choice which gives me immense satisfaction (exercising).

So here you have, the best version of baggy pants on my body (as of now)

    Hello people

Here's another outfit for you guys :)

Of late, I've been having this urge to dress up fancy for every occasion. So when my friends asked for a weekend day out, I decided to take out this newly arrived Dressfo jumpsuit and threw this golden bow metallic belt that arrived on my Birthday (When I had left for the party!).

When I saw it on their website, I knew I wanted to have it right away. Calf length (was supposed to be) bottoms was on my list for so long. The last pair of denims I wore here, were also supposed to be calf length but thanks to the teeny me, that couldn't happen :) This time I decided to pair the jumpsuit with wedges and that gave me a lean look.

As you can see, it came with the same material's black belt but it was looking a little washed out so paired with my own belt instead. Seeing my last post, guess all I've been experimenting with is, are belts!!!

I know I do not always (read rarely) wear different hairstyles but I really really want to try different ones without the use of gels, sprays or chemicals so the only options I have are- ponytails, fish-tail braid and the one I'm wearing. I could do many more but the texture of my hair is such that the visibility is of a few mm! But, I still love them!

Enjoy the rest of the pictures!

    Hello Beautiful :)

There are several meanings to this word and yet just one message is received: Your soul attracts me. Before I go overtly romantic, let's get lost in the colors that you're gonna see in this post. You all know my love for mint but a very few know how much I detest Gold/golden. It doesn't look good on me (or so I feel); but the moment I saw this bracelet on Zaful, I HAD to HAVE it (is this correct English?. Nevermind; the bracelet looks so good on my hand that even if it's the only accessory I'm wearing, it completes me!

Next, these shades. So my old blog readers know my love for cat-eyed glasses back from my giveaway triumph. I'm not a very 'accessory' person so more often than not, you won't find any accessory on me. I know it might be a taboo in the blogging world and many you might find it weird but I like to keep it simple (boring, eh?) and only let my clothes & shoes define me. Sometimes when I'm in a really good mood then a charm necklace/earrings/bracelet comes along.

So when I found these cat-eyed glasses in leopard print, I knew I would wear them <not-very-often> but cherish them forever.

A special mention the the material of these glasses- The glass & frame quality is so good that my mom, who is usually skeptical about shopping from abroad, praised the brand and even called dibs on this one.

I'm so excited to be going to my Alumni Meet. This would be the first ever alumni meet during the course of my education. I missed a few while I was studying elsewhere but this time it ain't gonna happen. I'm considering this my first and last alumni as most people appear immediately after their education. Few years down the line who knows where we will end up :)

So I know I wore this outfit here but this time it's about these cute white glasses. I wanted one pair of black frame white glasses ever since I saw Deepika in Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. For those who are translating the previous five words- it's a popular movie staring Deepika and Ranbir.
So, I wanted these and you know my love for cat-eyed glasses and I obviously had to combine the both and tada!!!!
My Friends say it makes me look different- good different so I'm good with the praises and something of my choice. Now, how often does that happen?

Zaful has been kind to let me pick so many things. You can look at another post of them here where I'm doing an experiment of wearing baggy denims (floral) and here something colorful and pretty.

I've loved this festival although I don't know the reasoning behind the celebration. These American sitcoms have spoiled me so much that I just want to celebrate one festival each month (at least). So when Dresslily started their Halloween Sale; I had to see what they had in store.

I can definitely relate Halloween with pumpkin, candies, bats, Gothic looks and a lot of makeup to achieve the desired look! Amidst the craziness of masks, costumes and Men's shirts (as well), I tried this blossom dress. The length of this dress & the print is the best part about it. When worn with some nice gloves and pearls, it would definitely be the right outfit for High Tea events. What more, there are some amazing deals and coupons available to shop from the already discounted items for Halloween. Now that's making full use of online shopping.

Had this amazing food in Mumbai. So many places, so much variety and my first ever proper pancakes! A vacation is incomplete without good food to soothe your stomach.

    Trick or Treat?
